How it works

Your visit, step by step.

No surprises, no jargon. Here is exactly what happens when you come in for a reline or adjustment at our West Wodonga clinic.

Step 01

Fit check

We look at sore spots, looseness, speech changes, and how the denture moves when you chew — to understand exactly what needs to change before any work starts.

Step 02

Choose the reline

Soft reline for cushioning and sensitive gums, hard reline for a longer-lasting reset, or a minor chairside adjustment if the fix is smaller. We will recommend the right option for your situation.

Step 03

Lab or chairside work

Because our lab is in-house here in West Wodonga, most relines and adjustments are turned around the same day. No sending away, no waiting days without your denture.

Step 04

Review the fit

We re-seat the denture, pressure-check it, and fine tune the bite before you leave. You walk out wearing it — not waiting for a follow-up call.

Why dentures loosen over time in Albury–Wodonga patients

Your denture does not always change — but your mouth does. Bone and gum tissue slowly remodel after tooth loss, which is why a once-perfect fit can start to move, click, or rub. This is completely normal and not a sign that your denture was made poorly. A reline remakes the inner surface to match your mouth as it is now.

Reline or remake?

A reline refreshes the inner fit of a denture that is still in otherwise good condition — the teeth and base are sound, just the fit has changed. If the teeth are worn down, the base is cracking, or the structure is failing, we will tell you honestly when a remake makes more sense than another reline.

Comfort matters — and it matters quickly

Small sore spots can turn into ulcers if they are left too long. The earlier you come in, the easier it is to settle things down — most pressure point adjustments take less than 20 minutes. Do not put it off.

Questions

Things patients usually ask.

How do I know I need a reline?
The most common signs are: your denture moves when you eat or speak, it feels loose in the morning, you are using more adhesive than you used to, or you have developed a new sore spot that does not settle. If any of these sound familiar, come in for a fit check — it is a quick assessment and we will tell you honestly whether a reline will fix it.
What is the difference between soft and hard reline?
A soft reline uses a flexible cushioning material that sits against your gum and absorbs pressure. It is more comfortable for sensitive gums but does not last as long — typically one to two years. A hard reline uses a rigid acrylic that matches the original base material. It is longer-lasting and more precise, and is the more common option for patients who are not experiencing gum soreness. We will recommend the right one based on your mouth and how your denture is currently performing.
Can you adjust dentures made somewhere else?
Yes. You do not need to have had your denture made at Borderlab for us to adjust or reline it. We see Albury–Wodonga patients with dentures from all sorts of clinics and labs. Bring it in and we will assess whether a reline or adjustment is appropriate, or whether the denture has reached the end of its serviceable life.
